With the U.S. equity markets at record highs and interest rates at record lows, the forward rates of return on capital are, by definition, relatively low. This week’s program highlights forward estimated rates of returns for a wide range of financial assets. Typical of aging bull markets predictions for a possible 20,000 Dow by Wharton’s Jeremy Segel on CNBC during August can be contrasted with David Tice, manager of the Prudent Bear fund’s prediction of a 60% correction. A capital rate based investment selection process brings a common sense approach to selection of investment assets that cuts through the noise of conflicting wild predictions and why “IRR* compression” calls for a shift in strategies.
Alex Tollen, Certified Private Wealth Advisor and Director of Equity Trading at McGowanGroup Asset Management, discusses how the big money is using trust planning techniques in the current market. Further, the discussion will reveal one of the most simple and effective trusts for estate planning (the revocable living trust) and how FLP’s, family limited partnerships, are being used as an educational legacy planning tool. For families with royalty interests, this week’s Profit Report is a do not miss summer planning episode.
